Psychosocial Disability refers to a disability that arises from a mental health condition combined with social, environmental, systemic factors (e.g., marginalisation, trauma, stigma).
Reports typically describe what the person can do vs what they need help with, and make recommendations for supports (therapies, assistive tech, social supports and environmental modifications). The assessment includes structured interviews, review of prior reports and collecting data from the client, carers, support workers, other professionals.
PSFC Assessments are often required to support reviews for NDIS or evidence for Disability Support Pension applications. Permeance of the mental health condition and how it affects ability to function independently will be informative to guide treatment and support needs.
