Speech Pathology

A speech pathologist and speech therapist are the same thing. While some individuals prefer one term over the other, there is no meaningful or substantial difference between the two.
You may have also heard of an SLP, or a speech-language pathologist. This term is also used to refer to speech pathologists or speech therapists.

No you do not need a referral to see one of our speech pathologists. If you’re coming in for an autism assessment however, a paediatrician will need to provide you with a referral before seeing a speech pathologist.

Yes. Our speech pathologists are able to provide therapy via telehealth. If you would like to find out more about speech therapy through telehealth, please give our team a call today.

Behaviour Therapy

The term behaviour therapy refers to a number of different therapies that provide support to clients with mental health disorders, including depression, ADHD, self-harm, social issues, developmental issues, eating disorders and more.

ABA Therapy is a completely evidence-backed form of therapy with decades of research behind it. While some people may have heard of ABA Therapy as a stigmatised form of therapy, this mostly due to unfair associations with outdated applications of the therapy. ABA Therapy, as practised by One Central Health, is a scientifically-backed program and is always conducted ethically, responsibly and based on best practice therapy.

Yes our behaviour therapists are able to conduct school visits. For more information going about organising in school visits, we recommend liaising directly with your school administration. Alternatively, get in touch with us to find out more.

Autism Assessments

Autism assessment referrals are received from paediatricians. Once you have received a referral from your GP to see a paediatrician and attend your appointment, the paediatrician will assess your child and, if deemed necessary, refer you to our autism assessment psychologists and speech pathologists.

In Western Australia a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder needs to be signed off by a paediatrician, psychologist and speech pathologist. One Central Health provides all three services in one, central and convenient location.

Autism assessments are now conducted over telehealth. If you would like to have your child assessed for autism and have received a referral from a paediatrician but cannot attend an appointment, please give our team a call.
