What is speech pathology?
Speech pathology is the assessing, diagnosing, and treating of various communication disorders as well as issues relating to eating and swallowing.
Speech therapy includes helping clients to speak, listen, read, write, and understand. From stutters to non-verbal children with autism, as well as development delays as a result of injury, disease or old age, our speech pathologists are here to help with it all.
What do speech pathologists do?
Speech pathologists use a wide range of testing techniques, methods, and therapy activities to both understand their clients’ communication and speech issues and propose helpful therapy.
The One Central Health team of speech pathologists offer therapy services and support across a wide range of areas.
Our speech pathology services are available for children and adults of all abilities and ages. Specific areas of expertise include delayed language in children, augmentative/alternative communication (AAC), fussy eating, literacy, and stuttering.
As part of our robust autism assessment services, our speech pathologists are specifically trained to conduct autism assessments. Through the use of specially designed and developed testing tools and assessment procedures, our team is able to provide adequate diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) as required by the state.
Please note: You will need to see a paediatrician to receive a referral BEFORE booking in for an autism assessment. For more information, please get in touch with us or visit our autism assessment page.
