Alex will be working at the Tuart Hill and South Lake offices as well as providing support in the Pilbara.
Occupational Therapists (OTs) work with people of all abilities and all ages to do the things they want to and need to do through the use of therapeutic activities and equipment.
Alex can assist in any of the following areas:
- Hand-to-eye coordination
- Motor control
- Fine motor skills
- Gross motor skills
- Body awareness and sensation
- Handwriting and cutting skills
- Day-to-day living skills, such as eating, writing, going to the toilet, interacting with other children and playground skills
- Sensory needs including developing a 'sensory diet'.
As an OT and Support Worker, Alex has worked with diverse range of diagnosis including Autism Spectrum Disorder, hypermobility, dysgraphia, dyspraxia, Down Syndrome, Oppositional Defiant Disorder and sensory Processing Disorders.
She has previously worked in government paediatric OT practices, acute hospital settings and disability services and has volunteered her time in schools as an OT. Alex is passionate about working with children of all ages and conditions and is experienced in screening assessments and interventions in the areas of fine motor development, handwriting and sensory processing.
In her spare time Alex enjoys kite boarding, tennis and baking.
